About Us
Sean | Co-Founder, The Pattern Initiative
Sean brings 23 years of experience in special education, including work as a classroom teacher, team leader, program coordinator, and school-based leader. He has supported students with a wide range of learning, developmental, behavioral, and functional needs while collaborating closely with families, educators, related-service providers, administrators, and community agencies. He has a Masters in Special Education with an emphasis in program development and implementation.
His work has included individualized education program development, special education compliance, evaluations, behavior support, transition planning, accommodations, assistive technology, independent-living instruction, and coordination of services. This broad experience allows him to look beyond a single meeting or document and help families understand how the different parts of a child’s educational program fit together.
Sean helps families make sense of records and school processes, identify concerns and priorities, ask informed questions, and prepare for effective participation in educational planning. His goal is to give families the knowledge, structure, and practical guidance they need to make confident decisions and help build meaningful support for their child.

Miranda | Co-Founder, The Pattern Initiative
Miranda is a special educator, parent educator, and advocate who believes behavior makes sense when we understand the person, environment, and nervous system behind it.
With a background in special education and years of experience supporting children with complex learning, behavioral, sensory, and developmental needs, Miranda brings both professional expertise and lived experience to her work with families. She holds certifications in Mild/Moderate and Severe/Profound Disabilities and has completed graduate-level study in Special Education with a focus on Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Before founding The Pattern Initiative, Miranda worked as a special education teacher and spent more than a decade as a therapeutic foster parent. She is also a mother in a large neurodiverse family, giving her a perspective that extends far beyond textbooks and classrooms. She understands what it is like to navigate school systems, therapies, accommodations, challenging behavior, and everyday family life while trying to determine what a child actually needs.
Her work focuses on helping parents move beyond simply reacting to behavior and begin recognizing the patterns underneath it. She helps families explore nervous system regulation, sensory needs, executive functioning, communication, environmental demands, routines, and relationships to create practical supports that work in real life.
Miranda’s approach is rooted in one foundational belief: behavior is communication, not character.
At The Pattern Initiative, she helps families replace “How do we stop this behavior?” with a much more useful question:
“What is this pattern trying to tell us?”
